During this most difficult of times for our family, We would like to ask everyone to join us in wishing Sage's Grand papa Ben (Michael's dad) a Happy 71st Birthday.
Sage was an amazing part of our life here at the Nursery. When he would come to work with Jessie everyone wanted to hold and play with him because he made us all feel so good. His cheeks were so soft and kissable, his hair smelled so good, and his chubby little legs would dangle and kick as Jessie held him in the sling. He was a pure light of joy and love. Our world will be lesser without him. He will live on in our hearts, minds, and memories. He is not gone, merely waiting for us in heaven.
How did the rose Ever open its heart And give to this world All its beauty?
It felt the Encouragement of light Against its being.
Otherwise, We all remain Too frightened.
-Hafiz
About The Encouragement of Light
I started this blog in March 2008, days after an auto accident that killed my 9 month old son (Sage) and my dad (Dennie) and left me with serious injuries, including a broken pelvis. I write to share my exploration of life after losing my child and to process this experience. My husband, Michael, and I find ourselves in the foreign land of grief, sometimes utterly lost, and sometimes awed by unexpected beauty.
